Wow! What a great experience! We were given a gift card so my wife and I went to use it. Was super crowed but we were seated quickly. Had our drinks and appetizer order right away. We got a free appetizer for signing up for their emails. Saved us $9! The food was outstanding! I had a traditional spaghetti with meat sauce, well done folks! My wife had a fish dish that she raved about. The salad we had was well made and crispy. dont like limp lettuce! Our server was Amy and we were very pleased with her. Engaging but not pushy. Very professional. We will be back!

Great food. My husband and I had a lovely lunch there yesterday. Their minastoni soup is the best I have ever tasted. Wish they had a restaurant in w Ashley or mount pleasant. Nice waitress who served us also. Keep up good work

Food was good and hot. It took a really long time to get our pasta and despite asking for additional salad and breadsticks twice we never got them.

This Olive Garden's food is pretty consistent, but their service differs. We've probably been here like at least 3 times so far. If you go during prime time during dinner, there may be a wait, but going early would prevent this.

We have eaten there several times. Love it. The staff is always prompt and polite and nice. Love the endless soup and salad. Dinner was delicious. Thank you

There is something about this place that I love! It must be the great service and food! I don't like waiting and I strongly think they should build another one in charleston. My meal was good I had the lasagna primavera I got it mainly cause it was under 600 calories. It was alright the chicken was great but the lasagna kinda reminded me of a lean cuisine meal. The boyfriend got a steak Alfredo which was awesome!

Olive Garden USE to be my favorite place to eat, but after constantly seeing caked on dust all over the freaking restaurant, it made me think twice. CLEAN! seriously? you have one of the biggest staffs all over the US. Not to mention, your silverware is ALWAYS dirty. Have you ever heard of polishing? Or making sure its clean before you wrap it up in the the napkin, before i dive into my meal? Ive never had an issue with any server there. They all are very great servers. BUT, whoever is suppose to make sure the place is clean, hmm i don't know, the manager? can you do a better job? Thanks.

Haven't been here in awhile, went on a Thursday 5:30 pm...great time to go and not as crowded as normal. Service was great. Had the chicken parmesan and noodles..lunch portion size. My girlfriend and I thought that the portion size had shrunk to one piece of chicken in lieu of two, cos we thought we always ordered lunch size before, but maybe we are older now and can't remember. It was delicious as always. Salad and breadsticks were ample amounts so we really didn't need a bigger dinner plate anyway. We split a tiramasu dessert...it was the best...much different from the one I tried at Walmart deli which was a roll. Checks are given with delicious chocolate mint squares. Noticed on the menu you can get mini plates now of small serving of 2 or 3 items of your choice for around $3.99. Good menu selection in the $8-$12 range and there are higher end entrees if you want fancier. I would say my mid-week dining experience is better than weekends or lunch hours in the past when they are just too overwhelmed. The server was pleasant and available, and a manager checked to see if how everything was.

All five stars go to the waiter Rome. He is an exceptional host and sincerely cares about his guests. He makes the experience worth it. I always go for the delicious unlimited soup and salad. The speed and overall atmosphere is great. I like that they put freshly grated cheese on the soup right in front of you. Additionally, my cup is never dry here. Would definitely recommend.

Well I used to be a huge fan of Olive Garden, we used to go there sometimes twice a week. I say used to because I shall never darken their doors again. That's all because of this location in Charleston, I have been here 3 years and I have visited them three times each time thinking they must of been having a bad day the previous time. No they have lowered the quality of their food dramatically and for you who can't recognize that well continue to go and pay more for poor quality. I got the tour of Italy and everything was nasty about it but the salad took the cake. A bowl of lettuce with three small pieces of tomato and a couple of pieces of olives on top. Charleston you deserve better.

Great service and food as always. First time at this location and first time in this city, lovely city too. Will definitely stop by here again if I'm ever in this city or at a near-by city.

My family and I have consistently enjoyed dining here (and their other many locations as well) for the last twenty years or so. Everything I've ever tried off their menu has been delicious and seems homemade. True to the foods they offer, their buildings are always of a Mediterranean inspired design with a similar soothing color palette. The ambiance of their restaurants feels upscale yet unpretentious. Their menu prices likewise seem fair for the quality of what they offer and are far less than many other local Italian restaurants. Their staff has seemed incredibly courteous and attentive time and again. Their menu is probably one of the most extensive of any restaurant I've ever visited. Whether we were there for a just because weekday meal or we were celebrating birthdays or anniversaries (including an anniversary meal we're planning to have there tonight), everyone in my family cherishes our dining experiences there. I especially like their raspberry lemonade, their endless salad bowls and breadsticks, their classic calamari, their chicken parmigiana, and their zeppolli dessert with raspberry sauce (or chocolate sauce or even both if you'd prefer) for dipping them. Just now while perusing their menu on their website (complete with a helpful picture of every menu choice), I noticed that they now offer dipping sauces for their breadsticks which is yet one more thing to look forward toward.

That's right, FIVE stars for Olive Garden; my reviews are relative...You can laugh your way to Carraba's if you want, but know that you are never too good to eat at the O-Garden. Of course they are not preparing multicourse Italian meals from scratch, but this place is constantly reinventing itself...like the Madonna of Italian chain restaurants. The Tour of Italy and tiramisu, however, are very consistent. It has been quite a while, but we just started venturing back out this way since N. Chas finally got on board with nonsmoking... Jan was our server. I will always ask to sit in her section.

With all of the other options around for Italian, I have to wonder why so many people come here. I guess it's what they know? Over the past few months, I've been in here a few times and have always left a little disappointed. I've had great servers and terrible servers, so their service is sort of hit or miss. While some of their menu items are okay, lately everything I have had just falls flat. Most recently, it was their tortellini with meat sauce - bleh. Some of the pasta was not even cooked to completion - not sure how that happens. Since this is a chain, I understand the food is not going to be as great as some local spots. I do still expect a clean restaurant, attentive servers, and clean restrooms - none of which this location can consistently offer. While I would love to give them more chances, I think I've finally moved on.

It was sligltly busy with about 2 minutes for drinks, 20 minutes to get food, and 25 minutes to get the check and pay. The Chicken Alfredo was good but anyone could make more flavorful pasta with half the cost at a grocery store. the raspberry peach tea is amazing. The waiter was nice even with my rude brother. I give this three stars because of the high prices for a low quality of food

This was supposed to be a relaxing birthday dinner. We came in and we were seated immediately. However it took quid a few minutes for our waiter to come over. He finally came over and very hurriedly took our order. Our appetizer came out before our drinks and then we had to wait for plates. Once our food came out it was covered in grease/oil and was very watery. We ended up sending both plates of food back - too bad we had to wait for 35 more minutes to have our food made over. No manager stopped by to reply, instead we had to stop one. He then brought our food back and offered free dessert. Our waiters only apology was I'm sorry olive garden messed up your food. I was disappointed and won't be going back for a while.Needless to say thanks for the great dessert - the food was subpar and cold even after the wait.

Great service and food. Went for sisters birthday and very impressed overall. Lasagna fritas were a little to well done but still delicious.

I'm giving this place 5 starts for our waitress, Chanda! She was so easy to talk to, and treated my fiance and I like normal people. We're from downtown Charleston, and are usually regarded like kids because we're young (late 20s,) but she was so welcoming and sweet, and even accommodated me on my annoying diet of South beach phase 1. I ordered the new Sorrento Citrus Chicken and veggies, and she double checked that they put the glaze that I couldn't have on the side. She was so awesome, and the rest of the staff was friendly as well. The manager came by to see how our dinner was too. I felt right back at home, guess I'll always be a suburbs kinda girl. We will definitely come back when we are in the area!

I mean, it's Olive Garden, so I wasn't expecting much. But I love their unlimited soup and salad and breadsticks. Cheap lunch. Good service. Chicken Parmesan tasted like the breaded chicken patties I used to get at my middle school cafeteria. But I love the alfredo sauce. All in all, very decent.

My boyfriend and I ate at this location last night for a date night and it was beyond amazing! The hostesses weren't too quick to greet every customer walking in, but I understand they were busy and focused. We were told our wait time would be 20 minutes but we were sat fairly fast (like 5 minutes). Our server was Amanda M and she was GREAT! She was extremely attentive, never once let our drinks go empty and made sure everything came out at the perfect time for us. Not too mention she was a total sweetheart! I'd recommend and request her in a heart beat! We'll be back for sure (:

My review is about the excellent service that my sister and I received from Johanna; She was by far the best server that I had during my visit to South Carolina. Extremely personable, witty, and very professional. It was a great experience. Highly recommend this place, oh and the food was great but the service overshadowed the great food.

My girlfriend and I went here the other night and had the Baked Ziti and Chicken Alfredo. What can I say, it's an Olive Garden? The entrees were okay and the salad and breadsticks were good. The service was fantastic and our dining experience was very good so I can't complain. Our server, Angi, was very courteous and professional and made our experience that much better,

If I could give negative stars I would. Our waitress has been rude to my wife and I since we sat down. So far, we've had to ask for glasses of water twice before they were finally bothered to bring it to us. Our bottomless soup has so far been limited to however long it takes for our waitress to stop ignoring us and bring us our soup. She's actively illustrated the complete disdain she has for bringing us more breadsticks and getting our appetizer. Steer clear of this one.

  • Jean F.

Best customer service I have ever received ask for Deb she is honestly the best waitress I have ever met she waits on her customers hand and foot from advising selections on the menu to making sure glasses and bowls are full she is sure to please even the most unsightly guests someone give this woman a raise

Soup and salad for lunch is a must. Their new soup the porcini cream soup is amazing. The ability to switch soups is great as well.

The food is just as good as you would expect at any other Olive Garden location. The main issue with this location is service. The waitstaff is always friendly enough, but they are very slooooow. Most of the time, you will find yourself waiting awhile for food and then even longer to get your check. Since it's the only Olive Garden in the area, it can also get pretty crowded during peak times, so plan ahead for that.

I don't have any complants about O.G. I ordered the chicken alfredo and it was good. I came with a big group and nobody had any issues with the food. The service was decent too. Didn't blow my socks off but I would go back again.

Good stuff, as per usual from the OG. Waitresses lack chromosomes, but I guess the food made it to the table, and subsequently our mouths.

You can't go wrong with the soup or salad. It does a lot of calories but it's better than the any of the main courses

I went to this Olive Garden on a weeknight. Our wait was about 10 minutes. When we got seated, it did take about 5 minutes for our waitress to come over and she was a tad unprofressional. After she took our drink orders we got recognized with a "Cool beans." Just because we are in our 20s, does not mean we wanted a 50 year old waitress to "connect" with us while we're out to dinner. Anyways - aside from that, I loved everything about this Olive Garden. When she returned with our drinks I asked for a recommendation between a few things I was trying to decide on and she made an excellent recommendation (The Tour of Italy - a HUGE dish and it was great reheated for lunch!) The man who brought our food out was a very nice guy. The salad was light and crisp, and our breadsticks were hot and flavorful. My food was great and we will definitely be returning.

The staff is very good. The managers are fantastic. The customer service is also fantastic. This is the only reason they get three stars. For some reason, the pasta is ALWAYS over cooked. If you primarily serve pasta, this should NOT happen. Seriously. Mushy pasta is disgusting. I don't want to go to a restaurant and send food back. I want to go to a restaurant and enjoy a meal. My sister got angel hair today that was over cooked TWICE. She didn't get to really eat. The manager took care of the bill which is great but what we really want is properly cooked food. The kitchen definitely needs work.

This Olive Garden is the worst link in all chain restaurants and sadly not because the food is atrocious. It is mainly due to their service. I ate at this restaurant many times but last night the service was so horrid. It kind of left me never wanting to go back to any Olive Garden regardless if it was free. Now, let me start by saying YES, it is a chain restaurant. I know this but in a way there are just some standards that every establishment should have. I could be wrong though but I think rudeness does not consist with those standards. My waitress literally disappeared in the middle of the meal. And yes I do mean literally. I felt as though I was looking for the Lindbergh baby. The noodles for my pasta were completely uncooked and it took over an hour to get the food. It was a crowded restaurant as well and I completely felt violated almost when the waitress finally came back to refill my drink. I know it gets busy and people have a rough day but do not take it out on a paying customer. Olive Garden really left an impact on my life. It was experience of a life time. I guess I should thank Olive Garden, you have ruined my cravings for Italian food with one lousy night!

My girlfriend and I went here on a kind of relaxed date night. We had both been craving Olive Garden for a while, so it was the perfect choice. We each ordered a quartino of wine with our entrees. The food arrived, but the wine did not. The food itself was delicious, but it was disappointing to not have our wine to sip with it. Between two different waitresses we never received it. We did have a delicious dessert with coffee though.

Feel very badly about this review because it is not meant to be a reflection on the service we received by our server, but a bad business decision made by the management to put what we perceived as a challenged person to serve on tables. Our order was taken, then we waited, waited some more, had the server bring us more breadsticks when we hadn't finished the ones we already had. Our drinks were almost gone and we didn't want to drink anything more. Apologies from our server for delays blamed on a faulty oven (my pizza), and finally a manger coming by with the same oven story, promising our meal in 2 minutes. We had been waiting for about 1hr15 min at this time and I told him good cause we were leaving in 2 min if no meal. This resulted in my pizza being delivered half cooked and my wife's lasagna delivered barely warm. My meal was comped, which was good cause I barely ate 1 slice. Our sever apologized again and I felt very badly for her cause it was not her fault. Just a bad management decision. If I hadn't just gotten out of my car after a 9 hr drive from Florida, looking for a quick bite before bed, maybe I would have been more complacent about the whole matter, but such is life. Macdonalds has just started to sound good again.

The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is nice. Where else can you find great atmosphere and service for such a good price? The portion sizes are big enough to be split by two people. So go, enjoy free never ending breadsticks and salad while splitting an entree. And you can eat for about 10 dollars. Love this place!

Love Olive Garden but this one is weak. Slow service, decor is getting shabby, hosts standing around while tables stand unbiased and bathroom messy. Unfortunate. Food was solid like any other OG.

  • Joseph N.

I have gone there a total of 5 times in the past few years, but have only actually eaten there twice. Two times, we never got served. We were seated and got drinks, salad, and bread sticks - but no entrees after over an hour. The last time we went on Father's Day, and we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. After 20 minutes, I got up and looked in the dining room (you can't see it from the waiting areas) and it was half empty. They were obviously understaffed. Needless to say, we left. We went next door to Carrabba's and got seated and served immediately (and the food is much better). As for the food - well the two times I actually got food it was OK. It is nothing special. Olive Garden is to Italian food as Little Caesar's is to pizza. The atmosphere is quite outdated and the chairs have wheels on them. My wife and I find that kind of strange. You are better off staying away from the Olive Garden if you plan to actually be fed more than lettuce and frozen bread.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
